Double Dot Studios

Double Dot Studios are  born from the combined experience of Yonatan Rukhman and Kooki Salinas. Sound engineers, music producers and musicians, both of them with a vast background of success in the music industry, in Israel and abroad.

Yonatan Rukhman has been involved in music since childhood, studying the piano and the music played by his father, an expert on the baroque period. After being exposed to rock and pop music, he began playing various instruments such as bass, guitar and drums and formed various bands in his homeland, Israel. He then studied sound engineering, and began working in Tel Aviv’s well known Sigma studio.

He then moved to Italy, where he started working in various studios. He has been the resident sound engineer of the Solid Groove/PR Studio of Bergamo (north Italy), one of the few large scale recording studios of his area, prior to becoming a freelance engineer and producer. He has worked in studio with Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull), Morris Albert and various mainstream Italian pop artists. In particular he collaborated as songwriter and producer/engineer with Folk Rock/Metal band Folkstone, Italy's number 1 Folk Rock band, with whom he has written and produced four albums, the third one recorded and mixed by Yonatan at Bohus Sound Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.

He has been involved as a producer, sound engineer, arranger and songwriter in a wide range of musical productions.

He has also worked in some major events as a live sound engineer, touring with Folkstone all over Europe and Italy and with Labyrinth on the 2011 Sonata Arctica tour, among others.

Since 2008 he also produces electronic music with producer Kooki Salinas, with the alias “Yud Kei”. The duo has released various tracks on well known labels such as Baroque Records and Plasmapool.

Kooki Salinas started out as a guitar player, forming the Punk Rock band “Kukublof Vehayetushim”, which went on to have great success and to be considered one of the Israeli punk scene’s milestones. This experience has led him into production and so he started attending a Sound Engineering course in Israel’s “Hed” college. Soon enough he started working in Tel Aviv well known Sigma studio, where he became the resident engineer. His credits for that period include Etnics, Uzi Chitman, Nancy Brandes, the children’s channel and many more.

He then ventured into the world of live PA, working on some large scale projects such the Lior Almaliach & The Andalucian Orchetra (45 elements), Micha Shitrit, Tiny Fingers and others.

Since 2010 he is the operational manger and PA instructor of Tel Aviv’s Muzik College. He is also the manager of all the college’s internal and external productions (Levontin 7, Ezor, Tzavta etc).

He has continued working as a freelance engineer, working with artists and bands such as Tiny Fingers, Schorot, Hatapuchim and others.
